# Forrager

> Chapter summaries and highlights right on YouTube, and a web app that keeps every clip, note and transcript.

Forrager is a Chrome extension for YouTube plus a web app at https://app.forrager.ai. It is free while in development.

## What it does

- Chapter summaries and key highlights for a YouTube video, each with a timestamp to start from.
- Find moments: ask for a topic and get every place it comes up in the video.
- Clips and notes pinned to timestamps, with titles, notes and tags.
- Compilations: clips from many videos played as one, sorted into topics.
- Searchable transcripts, with sponsor reads marked on the timeline.
- Workspaces you can share with people as editors or viewers.
- Export to Word, PDF or Markdown; transcripts as .txt, .srt or .json.

## Reading Forrager share links (for agents)

A share link looks like https://app.forrager.ai/s/<token> and anyone can open it without an account.
Add .md to the end for a plain-text version (or .json for structured data).

The Markdown version contains:
- The video or compilation title, channel, publish date and runtime.
- Each clip: its YouTube link at the start time, the time range and length.
- The sharer's note for each clip, and the transcript lines the clip covers.
- The sharer's notes on the video, only if they chose to include them.

Cite clips by their time range and link back to the YouTube timestamp.

## Public reads over MCP (for agents, no account)

Forrager's public data is an MCP server with no sign-in, token or registration:
POST https://lovely-blackbird-530.convex.site/mcp/public (Streamable HTTP). For example:

- get_transcript: the transcript Forrager has cached for any YouTube video.
- get_clipped_moments: which parts of a video people clipped and how many, with AI-written clip titles only.
- get_video_map: the AI-generated summary, chapters, highlights and quotes cached for a video.

Cached data only: free, never starts AI work, rate-limited per address. To read a person's own library, see https://app.forrager.ai/llms.txt and /auth.md.
